Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi

Life is like that. Sometimes sweet and sometimes sour.

I used to work in retail industry before and had to travel frequently. I once was in a train on the way to Mumbai. I entered the second a/c compartment and sat near the window seat. I was happy to sit there. At that time my favorite author was Sudha Murthy - Opened her book and started reading it. The train was about to start in 15 minutes and so i realized. I called up my son to check if everything is alright with him.

After hanging up posts all the take care messages i realized three men and a lady walked in the compartment. They sat next and opposite to me. 2 of them were a couple and the other two were strangers.

I smiled at them as courtesy and became busy in reading. They all were talking amongst themselves and slowly conversion flew to other people around them.

Soon there was a proper flow of conversation amongst them. They spoke about their families, banks, neighbors, relatives, kids, work, apartments, politics. God there was no dearth of topics for these guys.

This went on for few hours. One of the men who came was a bank manager going for a training to Mumbai. He was talking about investments, shares and equities etc.
I got interested with that part but felt hesitant wondering I have been aloof all this while so doesn't look nice getting into their conversation so kept to myself.

Dinner time came and everyone had their food. i too had mine. We reached somewhere near borders of Maharashtra when two guys came into our compartment.

They sat next to our seats near side berths. They started commenting on the lady who came with us, she and her husband initially kept quiet. But after sometime the comments started becoming a little lude (She was a very beautiful lady). One way even i started feeling uncomfortable. I got up and walked away to washroom.

By the time i came back i realized the other two men and the lady's husband dragged these two guys to the next compartment where police guys were sitting. I went hurriedly to my place and realized the lady was crying.

On enquiring got to know that those guys passed sexual remarks on her which triggered the whole row. I sympathized and pacified her a bit. The men came back and we both enquired on what happened. We both felt happy to know they have been taken into custody.

The lady's husband thanked the guys for helping and one of them said ,'Agar behenji ki jagah pe hamare ghar ke ladies hote tho kya aap nahin karte', 'humare ladies ko koi nahin chedna chahiye'.

I felt happy hearing that. We think India has not grown and we are not getting modernized but yes being traditional is sometimes good. Here few people are still there who help unknown strangers without any selfish motive.

GOD BLESS INDIA AND INDIANS.
